New Beginnings for New Fathers

WHAT IS NEW BEGINNINGS FOR NEW FATHERS? 

The New Beginnings for New Fathers is designed to help new and expectant dads tackle the everyday challenges of being a new parent. Dads can learn to better support their children and families.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

  • Expectant low-income fathers of any age
  • Adult fathers with at least one child age 1 or younger
  • Young fathers ages 16 to 25, with children of any age

WHAT CAN FATHERS GAIN FOR PARTICIPATING?

  • Help finding a job and/or help building skills needed to find a job
  • Learn how to keep infants and babies safe
  • Baby-care basics
  • Crucial parenting and family-strengthening skills
  • Tips for managing money and setting and achieving financial goals

POSSIBLE OTHER BENEFITS

Participants also could receive:

  • A safe-sleep portable crib set
  • Gift cards
  • Subsidized employment internship

NEED HELP WITH CHILD CARE OR TRANSPORTATION?

New Beginnings for New Fathers can help provide FREE child care, gas cards or bus passes.

New Beginnings for New Fathers was created by the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood, which is housed within the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The commission seeks to improve the well-being of Ohio’s children by helping fathers become better parents, partners and providers.
